A.L. Allred and Guy Brewer founded Allred Metal Stamping Works in 1946. A.L. bought
out Mr. Brewers interest two years later, and the Allred family has owned and operated the company ever since. A.L, as his family and employees affectionately called him, continued to work every day until his sudden death in June 1991, at age 86. The previous Christmas the employees presented him with a plaque inscribed, Thanks for being more than just a boss. We appreciate you.
A.L. Allreds three sons, B.J., Carl, and Leonard, joined him in the business as soon as they were old enough. The three of them worked for the company their entire adult lives with the exception of military service. Mr. Allreds only daughter, Evelyn Allred Ward, also worked for the company for many years. Five of the founders grandchildren, Trina Allred Snider, Leigh Allred Mullinnix, Ray Allred, David Allred, and Wes Ward have worked in the family business, with Robert Snider and Bryce Mullinnix representing the fourth
generation.
In all, about 40 people work at Allred Metal Stamping Works, many with
more than 25 years of service. The companys building on Old Thomasville Road
has been expanded nine times to accommodate
the growing business. In 1994, Allred Metal Stamping Works purchased 11 adjacent acres and an 80,000 square-foot-building. These two buildings are now connected with a total of 160,000 square feet.
